With Further Ado #416: Two Favorite Authors

With Further Ado #416: Two Favorite Authors

On the socials the other day, Ross Richie asked people to post their favorite comic book writer. Pick just one? I thought that was really hard.  My pal and fellow PopCultureSquad columnist, Mike Gold, was also having trouble picking only one. He chose Jimi Hendrix and wrote, “He worked for DC, didn’t he?”

Seemed like a good answer to me.

It IS hard to pick just one favorite comic writer. And I was elated this week when I snagged copies of two new #1 comics by two of my favorite writers.

With Further Ado #391: Seeing Red – Part II. More Red Covers

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my love of red comic book covers. Why? I dunno. Red was the color of my alma mater. Maybe that’s it? I think the simple answer is that when I was a kid, there were just a lot of cool covers that were red. Here’s a few more:

But then again, I’m a sucker for detective novels and noir thrillers.  This story is off to a rousing start and I hope you can jump on it too. And Chris will be at ITHACON in two weekends, and it will be nice to get him to sign my copies! Continue reading “With Further Ado #391: Seeing Red – Part II. More Red Covers” →

With Further Ado #369: Looking Forward to The Brutal Dark from Chris Condon & Jacob Phillips

With Further Ado #369: Looking Forward to The Brutal Dark from Chris Condon & Jacob Phillips

ONE OF THE many really impressive guests we’ve hosted at ITHACON is Chris Condon. He’s a talented writer and an upbeat entrepreneur. He’s kind, personable and so good with fans!

It’s been amazing see him grow over the past few years. He’s been passionate about his creator-owned work. I used That Texas Blood for a reading assignment in one of my classes, and he spoke to the class after they read it!

Recently, his success with big properties, like Ultimate Wolverine and Green Arrow have been so much fun too.

He’s also working on a new project focusing on his creator-owned work, with his long-time collaborator Jacob Phillips. You may have seen the announcement at NYCC.

Here’s the description of Brutal Dark directly from Chris: Continue reading “With Further Ado #369: Looking Forward to The Brutal Dark from Chris Condon & Jacob Phillips” →
