A COUPLE OF weeks ago, I shared my dad’s secret stash of old high school souvenir program books. I did a little digging, and it turns out there were companies that would create a templates for small towns to create professional-looking program books for their high school football games. They’d supply the cover artwork and the layout, and in some cases, even chase local advertisers to contribute.

In today’s world, as print magazines and traditional newspapers have become less mainstream, it’s hard to imagine a glossy program book for a local sports team. But it happened!

Last time I shared my football programs, but this time let’s take a look at Basketball and Track & Field! The covers are glorious and the insides are curious. I’d love to put together a local show of all these, in fact. Stay tuned!
