New Number Ones: Comics Coming in October 2019

Welcome back to New Number Ones!!

This is where we give our readers a preview of the exciting new comic book series debuting each month. We have compiled an alphabetical list with cover art and the official solicitation text from PREVIEWSworld. Check below for our PCS NOTES to find out what we just have to tell you some more about the new comics in question.

There are a ton of new series of interest starting in October. There is a good mix of both existing and new characters featured in these books. Below you will find a slate of new books from a wide variety of publishers. Some of our favorite comic book talents are bringing us some of these new series.

Of note, the House of X and Powers of X miniseries are ending and a whole new slate of X-Men books begin to roll out this month. You will see some of them in our list.

We hope you will take a look and think about giving these a try. We will bring you reviews of most of these debut issues as they come out, and don’t forget to use the comments section to let us know what you think of this list.

PCS NOTES: We are excited to see what Leah Williams will do in this book. This is the first new series in the list from Williams.

PCS NOTES: The creative team alone has us extremely interested in this book. The folks who brought us The Authority teaming up again on a Batman story? Yes, please.

Black Canary’s life has spiraled out of control: her personal life is going through the ringer and her band is in crisis when an old flame resurfaces only to flicker out and set her on an all-new mission against an all-new opponent. The only thing she can be grateful for is the fact that she’s not alone, as Huntress finds herself on a collision course with Black Canary’s quarry at Detective Montoya’s urging. Meanwhile, Harley Quinn has resurfaced outside of Gotham City and out of the Suicide Squad, with a new lease on life that is sure to make everyone else’s life more complicated. And that’s only the first five pages.

Needless to say, the Birds are back in town! With more pressure and higher stakes than they have ever faced before, brought to you by hard-boiled superstar writer Brian Azzarello and the bombshell art team of Emanuela Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy.

PCS NOTES: We are looking forward to having a new ongoing Birds of Prey series even though the lineup seems designed to coincide with the upcoming film. The creative talent is definitely top notch.

PCS NOTES: If there is one book that we have been looking forward to more than any other this month, it is this one. Gail Simone’s universe melding event book looks super good.

PCS NOTES: Christopher Cantwell is probably the only writer that could get me to read a Doctor Doom solo series. I can’t wait to see what he does with it.

PCS NOTES: Another Dawn of X title. This one has the most interesting cast for my tastes. With a confusing setting description, we will need to read it to see where this ensemble cast fits in X universe.

PCS NOTES: The co-publisher of DC takes out his writer’s pen for this maxi-series. The art we have seen from Shane Davis from this series already makes it a must have.
